Instead of progress
By request, here are some more of the things said in character during my Nobilis game:
Anger ― “Do you have a tractor?”
Xuan-Lan ― “What’s a tractor?”
Anger ― “It’s like an ox with a motor.”
Mischief, paying attention ― “You mean a tractor?”
- Chance ― “There are plenty of millionaires who would pay to visit a nineteenth century port in the knowledge they can get cured of syphilis.”
- Anger ― “If you live in a palace, then for a start you get pretensions.”
- Anger, on Benedict being majorly mopey ― “Simply because he’s dead doesn’t mean he should stop living.”
- Chance, on telling Fear and Mischief that Sophie is dead ― “It’s more like taking a trip to the Netherlands.”
- Chance, when Sophie and Benedict stare at Phulattesthai ― “These guys are going to be born-again snake-huggers.”
- Chance ― “I’ll flip you for the fish.”
- Chance ― “Somehow I think that Sophie with her good Catholic upbringing isn’t going to be impressed by a giant snake.”
- Anger ― “They know about pasteurisation, don’t they? They’re French, of course they do.”
- Chance, to Anger ― “Well, not everything we do is therapy for you.”
- Anger, on learning the island floats ― “It’s a cheap prop!”
- Chance, on Anger’s debt to the Cammora ― “If we kill him, the debt disappears.”
- Fear ― “That’s it, I’m taking my handbasket [of Fear] and I’m out of here!”
- Chance ― “You have to wonder just what sort of giant radioactive snake he is.”
